I tell them about how the golden spiral<\/p>\n

is found everywhere<\/p>\n

shells<\/p>\n

in the way trees branch out<\/p>\n

pinecone spirals<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Everything is connected I say,<\/p>\n

we are all connected<\/p>\n

to one another and nature<\/p>\n

and the sky kisses the sea<\/p>\n

we can see it if we look close enough<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mondrian is more than rectangles<\/p>\n

blue white<\/p>\n

red and yellow<\/p>\n

black<\/p>\n

it’s math I don’t understand<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tie together with neat red thread<\/p>\n

leading from me to you<\/p>\n

to her<\/p>\n

to them and him<\/p>\n

will tangle, knot, stretch as we pull away from one other<\/p>\n

but will never break<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Around our right pinkies<\/p>\n

an artery that leads from pinkie tip to heart,<\/p>\n

and from me to you.<\/p>\n

Around our ankles<\/p>\n

leading us to our soulmates,<\/p>\n

plural<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I don’t find comfort in being able to see the puzzle<\/p>\n

pieces<\/p>\n

but not the full picture<\/p>\n

but while I’m working on this corner<\/p>\n

you’re working on the center<\/p>\n

and eventually, my section will touch yours.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I tell them that I saw it in a show when I was younger<\/p>\n

but I think I always had this in my mind<\/p>\n

the idea that relinquishing control is<\/p>\n

the biggest act of defiance<\/p>\n
