New Planet – Same Earthlings
\n(Hour 7 – Half Marathon 2021)<\/p>\n
Thanks to those with a ton of money
\nWe have learned how to escape to space
\nTo settle on planets never before
\nExposed to human life
\nWe take with us
\nNot only our possessions
\nBut our predispositions
\nOur immune systems
\nAnd other life forms
\nFrom earth
\nThat feed our ecosystem
\nMy family landed on the planet
\nKnown as cvd 2021
\nSince it was discovered in 2021
\nBefore the great surge
\nThat wiped out one quarter of the population
\nVaccination worked to a point
\nBut new variants were immune
\nTo the initial vaccines
\nNew vaccine, new variant, new vaccine
\nAnd of course
\nThere were people vaccine averse
\nAnd there were countries unable to vaccinate
\nEnough people on a timely basis
\nIn 2092 we took off
\nFor this better place
\nMillions of us
\nIn suspended animation
\nOn the Bezos-Amazon 5
\nA dome created by Tesla
\nProtected us with an earthly atmosphere
\nThe earth after years of interplanetary emigration
\nWould never be the same
\nThose that remained
\nContinued to believe in a magical explanation
\nSome of my friends
\nWent to a neighboring
\nPlanet named the new normal
\nThese friends lived in a subdivision
\nThat is exactly the same
\nAs the one I now live in
\nEarth flowers and trees in the yard
\nWe communicate through satellite technology
\nThrough the dead expanse of space
\nBut we are hearing of strange diseases
\nOnce more causing a panic among the survivors
\nI am not sure if these diseases escaped from a lab
\nSet up on our new planet to experiment with life
\nOr are native to our new planet.<\/p>\n
The political divide remains
\nBetween science based decisions
\nTo beat the disease
\nAnd those interested in blaming someone
\nOther than themselves
\nA new pattern is emerging
\nVaccine, variant, new vaccine, new variant
\nThere are those who refuse to learn
\nWhere we came from
\nAnd why we left.<\/p>\n
In the middle of town
\nNext to the Broad Street Bull
\nIs a Wall Street Golden Calf.
\nAt noon, every day
