{"id":93216,"date":"2021-06-26T15:43:19","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T19:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=93216"},"modified":"2021-06-26T20:22:20","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T00:22:20","slug":"2021-poetry-marathon-hour-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/2021-poetry-marathon-hour-7\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Poetry Marathon, Hour 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>I opted for a different take on the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/the-poetry-marathon-prompts\/prompts-hour-seven\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text prompt<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The question has been raised:<br \/>\n<i>N or Mal?<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Well, mal is bad\u2014<br \/>\nbut then Mal can be a pal<br \/>\n(ask the Beatles)<br \/>\ngetting the word out<br \/>\nand getting things done<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">and without it<br \/>\na polar bear is just an ani<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">(Annie, are you okay?)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Plus I\u2019m not sure<br \/>\nwe want to live<br \/>\nunder a new nor<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So that leaves N<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">N has become a symbol<br \/>\nfor one of the worst words<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I don\u2019t even like to say<br \/>\nthe word meaning \u2018slight annoyance\u2019<br \/>\nthat sounds a lot like it<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On the other hand<br \/>\nwe\u2019d run into a lot of trouble<br \/>\nwithout N<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">(Or, should I say<br \/>\nwe\u2019d ru i to a lot of trouble)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Names would start leaking vowels<br \/>\nall over the place<br \/>\nturning us into bleating creatures<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A certain conjunction<br \/>\nwould become the new beer commercial<br \/>\n(or we\u2019d all sound like we had stuffy noses)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And an annoying noncommittal grunt of assent<br \/>\nwould become nothing more than exhaling<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I\u2019m thinking we\u2019re going to continue<br \/>\nto need both<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Such a question!<\/p>\n<p><em>26 June 2021<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I opted for a different take on the text prompt.
