{"id":93342,"date":"2021-06-26T15:52:24","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T19:52:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=93342"},"modified":"2021-06-26T15:52:34","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T19:52:34","slug":"promiseland-7-of-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/promiseland-7-of-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Promiseland &#8211; 7 of 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are going to the Promiseland<br \/>\nbut Eli\u2019s not invited.<br \/>\nYou\u2019ll be gutted to know,<br \/>\nyou\u2019ve went into battle for<br \/>\nnothing and now<br \/>\nall of your wounds are salt-soaked<br \/>\nwith his crocodile tears.<br \/>\nYou wear the disguise of a wise woman,<br \/>\nsomeone sewn shut, acquiescent,<br \/>\nnot peculiar.<\/p>\n<p>Bloody from one thing,<br \/>\nstinging from another, God is a<br \/>\nbully and a voyeur.<br \/>\nHis spies lay among the weeds.<br \/>\nThe man isn\u2019t God\u2019s apprentice,<br \/>\nhe is barely even his creation\u2014<br \/>\na backwards Frankenstein,<br \/>\ngorgeous as sin<br \/>\nbut all the prattle is malevolent.<\/p>\n<p>He made a diorama of all of the<br \/>\nwonderful places you could end up,<br \/>\nshould you oxidize for him,<br \/>\nshould he breathe you in.  A brilliant display<br \/>\nof What-If\u2019s, held up in sound\u2019s painful<br \/>\nmemory where he is still glowing<br \/>\nand you are still proudly na\u00efve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are going to the Promiseland but Eli\u2019s not invited.
