{"id":93355,"date":"2021-06-26T16:40:28","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T20:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=93355"},"modified":"2021-06-26T16:40:38","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T20:40:38","slug":"in-the-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/in-the-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0In the Valley<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My soul, my long-divided soul<\/p>\n<p>Seeking solace, tossed<\/p>\n<p>In life\u2019s raging tide<\/p>\n<p>Wondering what your identity may be<\/p>\n<p>Wondering through hostile grounds<\/p>\n<p>Searching for the place of rest<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Will you rest, my soul?<\/p>\n<p>Can you? Should you?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then my soul says,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo rest I seek<\/p>\n<p>But not at any cost<\/p>\n<p>For that would not be rest.<\/p>\n<p>Tired and weary I am<\/p>\n<p>And I would gladly rest<\/p>\n<p>If, in my tiredness I could smile,<\/p>\n<p>If, in my weariness I could laugh,<\/p>\n<p>If, when I shed tears, they be of joy and relief.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut such is not my lot as yet<\/p>\n<p>And so, to rest is but foreign to me \u2013<\/p>\n<p>not in knowledge<\/p>\n<p>but in living<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd now, I must hurry to find my rest<\/p>\n<p>So, when my strength fails to aid my sprint<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll trot;<\/p>\n<p>When to trot I no longer can<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll walk;<\/p>\n<p>And, when to walk is beyond my strength<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll limp and I\u2019ll crawl \u2013perhaps one day, one beautiful day, I say<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll rest and smile<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0In the Valley &nbsp; My soul, my long-divided soul Seeking solace, tossed In life\u2019s raging tide Wondering what your identity may be Wondering through hostile grounds Searching for the place of rest &nbsp; Will you rest, my soul?
