The Immortals of Meluha by Amish<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[Spoiler Warning]<\/p>\n<p>Running from the daily violence<br \/>\nin the snow-clad mountains to the North<br \/>\nArriving in a land that is conflicted today<br \/>\nTo find a secret legend and himself<\/p>\n<p>Neelkanth, the one with the blue throat<br \/>\nsuddenly finds himself at the altar<br \/>\nstanding among gods of the past<br \/>\nand being treated like one everywhere<\/p>\n<p>Embarrassed at a title undeserving<br \/>\ncovering his neck in the name of religion<br \/>\nhe travels to the capital to meet the king<br \/>\nand meets the lady of his life instead<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A dire evil threatens the Land of Meluha&#8221;, the king says<br \/>\n&#8220;The systems are perfect and the country in order&#8221;, Shiva replies<br \/>\n&#8220;You&#8217;re the only one to root out evil&#8221;, the king says<br \/>\n&#8220;Where the hell is evil here?&#8221;, Shiva wonders<\/p>\n<p>He dances for Sati, the love of his life<br \/>\nAfter saving her from an attack in a village<br \/>\nHe touches her hand to show a dance pose<br \/>\nWhen she&#8217;s aghast at the fate that might befall upon him<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Get a Shudhikaran done&#8221;, Sati exclaims, running away<br \/>\n&#8220;What the hell?&#8221; Shiva thinks, and gets it done anyway<br \/>\n&#8220;Vikarma&#8217;s touch is poison and can cause bad fate&#8221;<br \/>\nShiva&#8217;s aghast at the superstition that still goes on<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Maybe this is evil&#8221; he wonders<br \/>\nBut the world has another answer for him<br \/>\n&#8220;The Chandravanshis and the Nagas together&#8221;, the king proclaims<br \/>\n&#8220;They are our enemies&#8221;, Shiva decides<\/p>\n<p>He meets the scientist and learns the secret<br \/>\nthe fountain of youth and the formulation method<br \/>\nHe meets a brother in Brihaspati<br \/>\none who doesn&#8217;t devote his life because of a blue throat<\/p>\n<p>Sati&#8217;s the princess, he later finds out<br \/>\nSati&#8217;s husband died and child was stillborn<br \/>\nSati&#8217;s life is extraordinarily honorable<br \/>\nDespite the ills that has befallen her<\/p>\n<p>The Vasudevs appear across temples<br \/>\nNever revealing who they are until the end<br \/>\n&#8220;We are to help you, Mahadev&#8221;, they answer<br \/>\nWhile they give him the answers to questions he struggles with<\/p>\n<p>The king announces the arrival of the Mahadev<br \/>\nhe is paraded across the kingdom<br \/>\nA blind vikarma veteran shows up in one<br \/>\nand Shiva gets his blessings<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is aghast at what the Mahadev has done<br \/>\n&#8220;Past life is not a reason to discriminate one&#8221;, he says<br \/>\n&#8220;I need to change this law and I will do it&#8221;, he proclaims<br \/>\n&#8220;Are you doing it for Sati, Mahadev?&#8221; a Vasudev asks him<\/p>\n<p>Society needs balance and flexibility<br \/>\nThe vikarma might destroy the world because of rage<br \/>\nhence the past life sins as a counterweight<br \/>\nto restore balance to society<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is still wrong and I&#8217;ll change it&#8221; Shiva says<br \/>\n&#8220;Here&#8217;s where you sign, my lord&#8221;, the king replies<br \/>\n&#8220;The law is hereby banished&#8221; he says<br \/>\n&#8220;No Vikarma shall be discriminated against&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He wins Sati&#8217;s love, after giving her what she wants<br \/>\nRespect from the people she cares about<br \/>\nThe union is announced eventually<br \/>\nand the couple tie the knot in a grand celebration<\/p>\n<p>Brihaspati leaves for some work early<br \/>\nDespite Shiva&#8217;s pleas to stay for one more day<br \/>\nShiva is woken up mid-sleep the next day<br \/>\nBrihaspati&#8217;s lab is being attacked<\/p>\n<p>Brihaspati&#8217;s lab is attacked by soldiers<br \/>\nled by a Naga, the deformed and cursed ones<br \/>\nShiva vows to avenge his brother<br \/>\nEven if his own soul is corrupted in the process<\/p>\n<p>Shiva sends a message of war to Chandravanshis<br \/>\nA &#8220;NO&#8221; from them angers him even more<br \/>\nA war must be waged, he decides<br \/>\nAnd thus, he proceeds to Swadweep, the capital of the enemy<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can direct the war from the viewing platform&#8221; the king says<br \/>\n&#8220;I belong to the battlefield and not the sidelines&#8221; Shiva says<br \/>\nHe rushes into battle to kill the enemy<br \/>\nLeaving a pregnant Sati in the care of the doctor<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Har Har Mahadev&#8221; he yells a war chant<br \/>\nAll of us are Gods<br \/>\n&#8220;Har Har Mahadev&#8221; the army repeats the chant<br \/>\nAll of us are Gods<\/p>\n<p>The war is won and the royalty imprisoned<br \/>\nThe enemy king sees the Mahadev and is aghast<br \/>\nThe princess comes and claims their Mahadev is yet to arrive<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s when the truth dawns on him<\/p>\n<p>The two kingdoms were enemies but not evil<br \/>\nEvil resides somewhere else, not here<br \/>\n&#8220;In a clouded state, I have killed innocents<br \/>\nWhat have I done?&#8221; Shiva cries<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You aren&#8217;t the first one to do so&#8221; a Vasudev pandit says<br \/>\n&#8220;You won&#8217;t be the last one too&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;But you realized it soon and now, your question begins&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;What is evil and where can you find it?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your quest just started, my friend&#8221; the Vasudev pandit says<br \/>\n&#8220;We are here to help you on the way&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;But the path is yours to walk alone<br \/>\nand so is the responsibility of finding the truth&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<em>Surya T<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Book &#8211;
