Nighttime, when strange things happen<\/p>\n
The full moon shining brightly<\/p>\n
Gleaming on the surface of the river<\/p>\n
Tempted was I in this beautiful scenery<\/p>\n
So, I threw down my anchor from my heavy boat<\/p>\n
And laid down on the hard surface<\/p>\n
To gaze at the stars<\/p>\n
Not a sound was heard<\/p>\n
Gone were the crackling frogs and screeching cricket<\/p>\n
Then my boats began to sway from side to side<\/p>\n
Swinging violently across the river<\/p>\n
Pulling to the bottom of the river<\/p>\n
On my feet, I sprang<\/p>\n
As I tugged harder on the chain<\/p>\n
But it wouldn’t budge<\/p>\n
Nervously, a gulped a bottle of rum<\/p>\n
It didn’t help<\/p>\n
Neither did the enormous\u00a0 drag of pipe calm me<\/p>\n
Instead, a thick white mist crept<\/p>\n
To the surface my hands, legs, and feet<\/p>\n
I could hardly see<\/p>\n
Hidden behind the fogs<\/p>\n
Were mysterious creatures<\/p>\n
Swimming, laughing mockingly at me<\/p>\n
My breath came out in hard pants<\/p>\n
And so to my legs I stooped<\/p>\n
My eyes wide opened<\/p>\n
My ears straightened<\/p>\n
Listening for the slightest sound<\/p>\n
A nasty feeling of weakness<\/p>\n
Overcame me\u00a0 into sickness<\/p>\n
This made me tremble in fright<\/p>\n
Slowly, I sat in fear<\/p>\n
Grabbing my boat with two hands<\/p>\n
I feel my knuckles turn pale<\/p>\n
With veins sticking out<\/p>\n
So, I held my eyes closed<\/p>\n
And Then, I sensed\u00a0 a dark shape<\/p>\n
Looming over me<\/p>\n
Not one but two<\/p>\n
Two fishermen it was<\/p>\n
They helped me<\/p>\n
Together we pulled, yanked, and tugged<\/p>\n
Little by little the anchor moved<\/p>\n
Slowly and deliberately we pulled<\/p>\n
Into the boat, we dropped the anchor<\/p>\n
With the\u00a0 body of an old woman<\/p>\n
Whose neck was laced with a rope<\/p>\n
That held a huge stone.<\/p>\n
