Your dad<\/em><br \/>\n<em>your uncle &amp; I are all kind of<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Buddhist,<\/em> I tell him.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow this leads<br \/>\nto Big Sky Mind.<br \/>\n<em>See the sky outside?<\/em><br \/>\nHe nods.<br \/>\n<em>See the clouds?<\/em><br \/>\nThin wisps of cirrhus<br \/>\nfeather the blue.<br \/>\n<em>Are they always there?<\/em><br \/>\nHe shakes his head.<br \/>\n<em>No,<\/em> I tell him: <em>sometimes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>the sun shines. Sometimes<\/em><br \/>\n<em>it rains.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>But what about the sky?<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Is it always there?<\/em><br \/>\nHe looks at me:<br \/>\nthis is a hard question.<br \/>\nAnd yes, we agree:<br \/>\nthe sky is always there.<\/p>\n<p><em>That,<\/em> I tell him,<br \/>\nis Buddhism.<em> Clouds<\/em><br \/>\n<em>are like thoughts \u2013<\/em><br \/>\n<em>they come and go.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>But the sky and the mind?<\/em><br \/>\n<em>They\u2019re always there.<\/em><br \/>\nEven if we don\u2019t know about god,<br \/>\nwe know about the sky.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Big sky mind My grandson says god isn\u2019t real.
