{"id":94161,"date":"2021-06-26T16:52:26","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T20:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=94161"},"modified":"2021-06-26T20:47:26","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T00:47:26","slug":"hour-8-lack-of-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-8-lack-of-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"HOUR #8 (Lack of progress)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Silence is not golden.<\/p>\n<p>At present, it is a pounding, penetrating reminder<\/p>\n<p>of failure.<\/p>\n<p>The air conditioner comes on from time to time<\/p>\n<p>my sole sound companion;<\/p>\n<p>as it achieves a loud monophonic bluster,<\/p>\n<p>I just want it to end.<\/p>\n<p>I can take the heat but not the monotony<\/p>\n<p>It reminds me too much of my present predicament.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I find no comfort in being alone with my thoughts<\/p>\n<p>when the thoughts do not come<\/p>\n<p>when the ideas that seemed to be flowing<\/p>\n<p>ebb suddenly then stop against an invisible dam-<\/p>\n<p>a beaver\u2019s wet dream.<\/p>\n<p>(All puns intended).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Outside my window,<\/p>\n<p>the wind pushes across the wide street below<\/p>\n<p>foretelling the storm to come<\/p>\n<p>It takes no prisoners and gives not one damn<\/p>\n<p>I would ride it to escape if I could.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Silence is not golden.
