{"id":94322,"date":"2021-06-26T18:10:06","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T22:10:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=94322"},"modified":"2021-07-22T12:13:54","modified_gmt":"2021-07-22T16:13:54","slug":"94322","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/94322\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 9- A Dinner Party Tale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three couples sat around a table.<\/p>\n<p>What was to become a dinner party<\/p>\n<p>Soon became a fable.<\/p>\n<p>Each brought their favorite beverage to share.<\/p>\n<p>One by one, the husbands would hear<\/p>\n<p>The best life lessons their fathers had taught.<\/p>\n<p>While on the other side of the table,<\/p>\n<p>the wives, somewhat distraught,<\/p>\n<p>offered tight-lipped what they had learned.<\/p>\n<p>Husband number one proudly exclaimed the value of food earned.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My dad said, &#8220;if you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day,<\/p>\n<p>but if you teach him to fish, he will eat always.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His wife gently added, &#8220;He forgot to teach you<\/p>\n<p>to clean the fish, so your wife wouldn&#8217;t throw them away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Husband number two cautiously looked at his wife,<\/p>\n<p>before offering his fix-it lessons on life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Careful,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It could be a long time before bed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He wisely passed the torch to his friend.<\/p>\n<p>The virtues of farming were the next husband&#8217;s wisdom lend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Grow it yourself, eat from your land.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ah yes, he was right if you pay your hired hand.<\/p>\n<p>and make sure it&#8217;s ready to put in a pan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now, Ladies, be fair.<\/p>\n<p>If it weren&#8217;t for us, you&#8217;d not have a care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Aren&#8217;t you sweet,&#8221; the wives offered their joke.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If it weren&#8217;t for stores, you wouldn&#8217;t be broke.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The moral of the story is to work as a team.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t make life harder for those you esteem.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three couples sat around a table.
