{"id":95155,"date":"2021-06-26T18:20:07","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T22:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=95155"},"modified":"2021-06-26T18:20:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T22:20:07","slug":"the-last-holiday-in-apata","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/the-last-holiday-in-apata\/","title":{"rendered":"The Last Holiday in Apata"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A memory I chose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not to remember<\/p>\n<p>But still dims up in style<\/p>\n<p>Coming in memorial fragments<\/p>\n<p>Taking up the holiday space<\/p>\n<p>A space that was never in existence,<\/p>\n<p>But fought tooth and nails<\/p>\n<p>To make hostage<\/p>\n<p>I was almost of age<\/p>\n<p>Ready to say bye to holidays<\/p>\n<p>Because they were so childish<\/p>\n<p>And I&#8217;m no more a child<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it made the family cut<\/p>\n<p>You know, a tradition<\/p>\n<p>A tradition that has turned to custom<\/p>\n<p>A custom that changed to belief<\/p>\n<p>A belief that drives faith<\/p>\n<p>A belief that togetherness is unity<\/p>\n<p>And a lying tongue is dishonesty<\/p>\n<p>That a flaming one can kill<\/p>\n<p>I wish then in my anxious mind<\/p>\n<p>That December should leave already<\/p>\n<p>Telling my journal<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;January!
