{"id":95715,"date":"2021-06-26T18:44:02","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T22:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=95715"},"modified":"2021-06-26T18:44:02","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T22:44:02","slug":"hour-ten-when-i-say-i-am-addicted-to-tattoos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-ten-when-i-say-i-am-addicted-to-tattoos\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Ten &#8211; When I Say I Am Addicted To Tattoos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I am reclaiming this body with a different kind of scar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instead of the razor,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I have chosen the ink filled needle to dance on my skin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The razor used to take salsa lessons on my arms,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hip-hop lessons on my thighs,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And the occasional ballet lesson on my stomach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The razor was scheduled to practice three times a day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When it dulled, a new one took its place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All silver shine,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All hopeful gleam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I\u2019d consider tattoos more hopeful, now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">They at least represent me a little better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It will take me some time<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To mask the hurt I have caused my body,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But I am on my way to renting the dance studio<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To kinder students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My anatomical hearts beat in tune.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The blues of my birds lull me to sleep.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am reclaiming this body with a different kind of scar.
