The scent of sourdough, fresh-baked,<\/p>\n
Wafting from the rustic storefront<\/p>\n
Picturesque in simplicity<\/p>\n
Beneath a periwinkle sky spread thin<\/p>\n
Across the trees<\/p>\n
Where deep within the forest<\/p>\n
A roving engine rumbles<\/p>\n
Spouting a thick cloud of smog<\/p>\n
Then sputters silent pulling<\/p>\n
A jeep to a rumbling stop<\/p>\n
‘Neath a sycamore taller than a<\/p>\n
Skyscraper, emerged a lone<\/p>\n
Forest Ranger.<\/p>\n
His eyes are sharp,<\/p>\n
Sharper than a needle,<\/p>\n
As he goes about his beat<\/p>\n
And yet his demeanor softens<\/p>\n
When the wooden porch is beneath his feet<\/p>\n
For just inside waits Miriam the Baker<\/p>\n
