Seven candles, seven symbols of values,<\/p>\n

Reflecting culture, building community<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Black for Unity<\/p>\n

despite diaspora,<\/p>\n

bonded in blood spilled and yet flowing,<\/p>\n

washed in the water we crossed<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Red for Self-determination<\/p>\n

to speak who we are<\/p>\n

with pride and dignity<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Green for Working together,<\/p>\n

taking Responsibility for each other<\/p>\n

lifting and holding us as one for all<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Red for building and sustaining legacies<\/p>\n

empowering us with the will<\/p>\n

to remember and make our own<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Green for Purpose,<\/p>\n

restoring traditions,<\/p>\n

accomplishing greatness<\/p>\n

never-ending<\/p>\n

Red for Creativity,<\/p>\n

adorning our world with<\/p>\n

sights, sounds, scents, tastes, touches<\/p>\n

that we make,<\/p>\n

leaving it more beautiful than we received it<\/p>\n

Green for Faith,<\/p>\n

unspeakable joy,<\/p>\n

unshakeable belief<\/p>\n

in our righteousness<\/p>\n

that our struggles will end in victory<\/p>\n
