Periwinkle is the flower of death they say<\/p>\n
but I have not seen them at the cemetery<\/p>\n
or perhaps I pass them unnoticed<\/p>\n
so seamlessly they fit the landscape of loss.<\/p>\n

From a high point, you can see the city\u2019s skyscrapers in the distance<\/p>\n
each one threaded like a needle between gravestones.<\/p>\n
On a perfect day, I imagine raising my hand to the sky<\/p>\n
and grasping a cloud, momentarily,<\/p>\n
before setting it free.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On a sloping trail, new graves have appeared<\/p>\n
spread among this idyllic plateau<\/p>\n
all too quickly filling the space<\/p>\n
with tenderly kept memorials.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
At night I see the grave lights<\/p>\n
dots of illumination across the blackness<\/p>\n
