Long after you were gone I still policed myself\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To fit your expectations. I couldn\u2019t\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shake the feeling that this was another test.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So I behaved and repressed so I\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t have to feel your wrath –\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Long after it was clear you weren\u2019t coming back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, I just hope you treat him better.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It gives me some solace to think that maybe<\/span><\/p>\n

I was the guinea pig you tested the limits on,<\/span><\/p>\n

that I saved another from all of this trauma.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u2019m still learning how to not blame others for you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To not see pieces of you tucked in their smile<\/span><\/p>\n

And clam up, immediately conjuring up what<\/span><\/p>\n

Always came after that smirk. I can\u2019t quite explain<\/span><\/p>\n

The ways in which you made a smile seem dangerous.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How that rewires the brain in the worst way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I can only hope that at least something good<\/span><\/p>\n

Came out of all the pain – that you know now\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Breaking point of a person, and you\u2019ll never push\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
