Politicians drone on about what we need<\/p>\n
with smiling popularity contest behaviour.<\/p>\n
We must vote for them, they convincingly plead,<\/p>\n
we need their leader to be our saviour.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
What we need isn’t a dapper smooth talker.<\/p>\n
Maybe he wears t-shirts and sports a goatee.<\/p>\n
We need a leader who fights for our corner<\/p>\n
and treats us all with respect and dignity.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Who we need won’t charge us for water<\/p>\n
or dish out contracts without a care<\/p>\n
crushing our protests with the hounds of the law,<\/p>\n
further swelling the coffers of one billionaire.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Who we need won’t accept business predation,<\/p>\n
won’t accept banks charging for being poor,<\/p>\n
will put nothing ahead of his population.<\/p>\n
No such politician ever knocked on my door.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To those in power a little reminder.<\/p>\n
You should remember, ‘cos we won’t forget.<\/p>\n
What we need really is a saviour,<\/p>\n
and what we need, we haven’t found yet!<\/p>\n
