{"id":98569,"date":"2021-06-26T22:52:53","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T02:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=98569"},"modified":"2021-06-26T22:52:53","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T02:52:53","slug":"the-language-of-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/the-language-of-music\/","title":{"rendered":"The Language of Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I replay melodies<br \/>\nOver and over<br \/>\nUntil my mind<br \/>\nTakes over them<br \/>\nAnd memorizes keys<br \/>\nSignatures<br \/>\nAnd the elegant way<br \/>\nIt trickles like<br \/>\nRaindrops upon a windowsill.<br \/>\nThrough my veins<br \/>\nStirring within me<br \/>\nEmotions I never realized<br \/>\nHiding within.<br \/>\nIt scurries me away<br \/>\nInto daydreams<br \/>\nInspires my senses<br \/>\nAnd drives me to write-<br \/>\nIt finds the words<br \/>\nThat eludes me<br \/>\nYet none<br \/>\nIn the language, I speak<br \/>\nOther than song<br \/>\nEven when my voice<br \/>\nCracks like a snapping whip<br \/>\nMy vocal cords resound<br \/>\nWithin the chamber of my lungs<br \/>\nEach note held<br \/>\nLike my breath<br \/>\nWaiting to feel it catching<br \/>\nSnagging on diction<br \/>\nHollow tones haunting<br \/>\nLuring me into<br \/>\nYet another set of lyrics<br \/>\nthat makes me weep<br \/>\nlaugh<br \/>\nand elicits wistful dreams<br \/>\nof things or those out of reach.<br \/>\nMusic does not tell me to quiet down<br \/>\nAnd sometimes when no one listens<br \/>\nor when they do-<br \/>\nMusic understands<br \/>\nAnd doesn\u2019t adjust the volume.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I replay melodies Over and over Until my mind Takes over them And memorizes keys Signatures And the elegant way It trickles like Raindrops upon a windowsill.
