{"id":98803,"date":"2021-06-26T23:10:11","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T03:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=98803"},"modified":"2021-06-27T00:12:49","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T04:12:49","slug":"hour-15-eventful-breakfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-15-eventful-breakfast\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 15: Eventful Breakfast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>When I was young I was very shy<br \/>\nScared to even look people in the eye<br \/>\nWith my family at breakfast one day<br \/>\nI looked up in total surprise.<br \/>\nSitting at the next table<br \/>\nWas a group I did admire<br \/>\nThey saw me shyly glancing<br \/>\nAnd came over to inspire.<br \/>\nFirst they took my grapefruit<br \/>\nThe breakfast I would eat<br \/>\nI just smiled and squirmed<br \/>\nShuffling my little feet.<br \/>\nNext they began to tease me<br \/>\nIn a funny, gentle manner.<br \/>\nThe Haarlem Globetrotters tried so hard<br \/>\nBut my shyness would not join the banter.<br \/>\nCurly smiled and joked with me<br \/>\nMy eyes kept glancing up<br \/>\nAnd up and up at his tall form<br \/>\nAnd then he took my cup.<br \/>\nAfter we ate breakfast<br \/>\nIn the elevator we all rode<br \/>\nI could not find the courage to ask them<br \/>\nFor their autographs, it showed.<br \/>\nI wish even to this day<br \/>\nA bunch of decades later<br \/>\nThat I had found my voice to ask<br \/>\nFor autographs in the elevator.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I was young I was very shy Scared to even look people in the eye With my family at breakfast one day I looked up in total surprise.
