{"id":98873,"date":"2021-06-26T23:17:54","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T03:17:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=98873"},"modified":"2021-06-26T23:17:54","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T03:17:54","slug":"hour-14-hurricane-season-2020-all-in-the-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-14-hurricane-season-2020-all-in-the-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 14: Hurricane Season 2020 (All in the Family)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hanna was the first to grow into a whirlwind,<\/p>\n<p>Touching Texas, flashing floods,<\/p>\n<p>Leaving powerlessness in her wake<\/p>\n<p>Texas couldn\u2019t handle Hanna after all.<\/p>\n<p>I could have told them<\/p>\n<p>Hanna don\u2019t play<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Isaias was a killer, moving too fast to get out of his way<\/p>\n<p>Like Hanna in the southwest, he sucked power from the east.<\/p>\n<p>Isaias had an identity crisis,<\/p>\n<p>Couldn\u2019t decide who he was.<\/p>\n<p>He stormed through the islands,<\/p>\n<p>Touched land as a whirlwind<\/p>\n<p>And twisted again as he traveled north<\/p>\n<p>Away from the sea<\/p>\n<p>Who knew when he was born<\/p>\n<p>That he would bring death and destruction?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Laura and Marco, almost twins,<\/p>\n<p>Born in the east.<\/p>\n<p>Laura, born first, was weaker.<\/p>\n<p>Marco grew up before she did<\/p>\n<p>But he weakened faster,<\/p>\n<p>And did not linger before he was easily shoved<\/p>\n<p>Aside,<\/p>\n<p>Before dying.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Laura, unorganized and inhibited,<\/p>\n<p>Would not stay put.<\/p>\n<p>As Marco weakened,<\/p>\n<p>She slowly gained strength crossing Cuba,<\/p>\n<p>Her strength intensified as she wandered<\/p>\n<p>To Louisiana and drenched it,<\/p>\n<p>Taking power and flooding like her older siblings.<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t trust first impressions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nana grew up in South America,<\/p>\n<p>An introvert, she stayed away from crowds,<\/p>\n<p>And like the mayfly,<\/p>\n<p>was lively for only a day.<\/p>\n<p>Paulette was a zombie<\/p>\n<p>Who rose from the dead<\/p>\n<p>After brewing up a storm.<\/p>\n<p>Sally struck hard and strong,<\/p>\n<p>Making an impact<\/p>\n<p>with her rushing water and wind.<\/p>\n<p>Simple Sally was not flashy.<\/p>\n<p>Teddy was a slow one,<\/p>\n<p>Gradually growing stronger<\/p>\n<p>Before reaching his peak<\/p>\n<p>And deflating quickly<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t tell him he\u2019s impotent!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then there came the Greek twins<\/p>\n<p>Alpha, like her sibs,<\/p>\n<p>tried to spread herself<\/p>\n<p>But fizzled out<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to take her seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Iota had to be different,<\/p>\n<p>Adding mud to the flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Such a show-off!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hanna was the first to grow into a whirlwind, Touching Texas, flashing floods, Leaving powerlessness in her wake Texas couldn\u2019t handle Hanna after all.
