Dark street at night, a circle of light,

\nWas it a portal, a wormhole door
\nLeading to somewhere else in the cosmos?
\nI froze. <\/p>\n
I did not think to run away
\nI was seized in the grip of awe:
\nMy mind trying to make sense of
\nWhat my dazzled eyes now saw. <\/p>\n
A science experiment gone wrong?
\nET’s in my mundane town?
\nWondering, guessing,I waited,
\nFor my pulses to calm down. <\/p>\n
I stood transfixed in wonder
\nTill a whiff of ozone, a clap of thunder,
\nCaused the apparition to vanish.
\nHow I still regret and wish<\/p>\n
That I had never paused to guess
\nHow I wish I’d answered “Yes! ”
