In the moonlit path\u00a0we walked together<\/p>\n
“There are wild foxes here,” you said<\/p>\n
And I took a step closer<\/p>\n
Wondering if we would see them unless<\/p>\n
They saw us first and swallowed us whole.<\/p>\n
My hair caught in branches that swept low, pulling<\/p>\n
At our clothes. “It’s eerie,” you smiled, disentangling<\/p>\n
the strands, “but beautiful,” I murmured, breathless.<\/p>\n
“Exactly. That’s why I come here for a stroll<\/p>\n
on nights like these,” you whispered.<\/p>\n
I think I said something but it cannot be denied<\/p>\n
that night was magical, musical. I confess<\/p>\n
I almost gave you my heart. I say almost.<\/p>\n
For when morning came we went our separate ways<\/p>\n
Our lives reverberated and re-wrote themselves<\/p>\n
Only some moonlit nights you will find me, I guess<\/p>\n
Pacing those paths. Trying to find a way<\/p>\n
