Cat is spoiling my ocean-view<\/p>\n
He likes the open window<\/p>\n
To watch the birds, the waves, the palms<\/p>\n
It is safe behind the window-screen<\/p>\n
Tucked behind the curtains<\/p>\n
Away from barking dogs<\/p>\n
And the crows that squeal warnings<\/p>\n
Whenever he is outside<\/p>\n
He can watch the neighbors and not cower<\/p>\n
Here he is the master<\/p>\n
His domain is small, fascinating<\/p>\n
He is vigilant<\/p>\n
Ready<\/p>\n
He blocks my ocean-view<\/p>\n
But I get to watch him<\/p>\n
His head moving side to side<\/p>\n
to invisible sounds<\/p>\n
Sniffing the air of other people’s dinners<\/p>\n
Feeling the ocean air caress his whiskers<\/p>\n
Helping me write a poem<\/p>\n
