{"id":99426,"date":"2021-06-27T00:30:42","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T04:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=99426"},"modified":"2021-06-27T00:30:42","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T04:30:42","slug":"disorder-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/disorder-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Disorder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Disorder<\/p>\n<p>It only happens in the dark,<br \/>\nfragments of thoughts lose breath,<br \/>\nthe voice of undone tasks relents,<br \/>\nfilaments of the day break off to<br \/>\ntumble in freefall, rest begins,<\/p>\n<p>but that\u2019s when we intervene,<br \/>\ngrasping at things we need to release,<br \/>\nsleep eluding us while the brain<br \/>\nstokes the coals and fires up<br \/>\nto keep us alert when the body<br \/>\nslumps in exhaustion.<\/p>\n<p>A disordered file of what to keep<br \/>\nand what to let go of churns<br \/>\nvirtual pages of notes jotted<br \/>\nin margins of books, on pay stubs,<br \/>\nin banks of computers in our brains.<\/p>\n<p>Why do we have such a hard time<br \/>\nletting go of the day\u2019s crumbs,<br \/>\nleftovers that will be stale<br \/>\nby morning when we will still<br \/>\nbe awake and groggy?<\/p>\n<p>Imagine the things we release<br \/>\npiled a foot high, the burden<br \/>\ngone from our brain, trash can<br \/>\npacked to the lid and put<br \/>\nat the curb til morning.
