The Watchtower (Hour 20)

Here, in this
Observation Mountain
towering above the earth,
that’s where, we
are told,
The Big Eye
watching
over creation sits
documenting good
deeds and ill –
or delegating
to Its zillion
auxiliaries, including
the elements
the four winds,
waiting patiently
for Reckoning
when the book
of records shall
stand in judgment

  1. I totally identify with the subject matter and the sarcastic undertone. However the popular teachings contradicts with some of the images presented. I don’t think Mountain captures the intention as much as Throne would. And instead of towering above the earth, I would prefer ‘high above the earth’. These are personal thoughts anyway.

  2. In reading several of your poems, I see a use of language and poetic technique that is similar to my own. A sparseness of language, poetic and rhetorical devices, and a definite rhythm to drive your point. I could make this comment to several of your poems, but this poem is a very good example.

    1. Thanks. I’ve gone to look at your work and I see the resemblance and I’m like, wow! Let’s keep up our good work. Who says cross-border collaborations can’t happen from here?
