Write a poem about a physical activity you do all the time. It could be something mundane and chore related, such as brushing your teeth or mowing the lawn, or it could be something you do for fun, or for your health, like running or swimming.
The poem can be about more than that physical activity, but it must start and end with it.

The first thing I do in the morning is care.
Though I do feel some frustration;
whether or not my enthusiasm is there.
I couldn’t stop even if I dare;
but have hindered myself with hesitation.
The first thing I do in the morning is care.
For a long time I did not know where
I was going; with no destination
whether or not my enthusiasm was there
I had to accept that my lot was fair,
that I deserved no further renumeration.
The first thing I do in the morning is care.
I still have time; but none to spare
as life requires a constant dedication.

Not nearly enough people do.
I love the structure of this poem and especially the repetition. ” The first thing that I do in the morning is care…” The lymric and lyrical style make it seem innocent , yet it is not. Question for second last stanza…Does life require constant dedication or the ability to care? It can really change the meaning of the poem. This poem touches me deeply and it is a good reminder to care.
