What a stoopid idea! Why crank out 24 poems in a day? To promote quantity over quality in a vacuous contest? Jeezus.
Jefferson, delightful to see that you are a published poet. Many of us do the 24 hour marathon simply because the challenge is fun. I personally enjoy the prompts. Later on down the road, I take what I wrote in 24 hours and edit or add to it. Granted, this poem is quite crass. I wrote it one day when I felt extremely angry toward a powerful man who insisted that I marry him. He’s been butt hurt ever since, as have his many friends.
We’re not all pros here, like you, but we enjoy poetry. Just like not every actor in the world is A-list, not every poet in the world cares enough to go through the work of publishing, as you have. Congratulations on all your works. I’m sure they’re insightful and relevant.

The ethos of this community is about participation, not perfection. Yes, many of us enjoy that at the end of the day we have 24 new poems to work with, some which may be of merit, some of which might be just a little sillier, but what I love about the marathon more than the writing is the sense of community and fun that we get when we come together to write like this.
I’m sorry that the event is not for you, but that doesn’t mean it is not for everyone. Each to their own.

I actually really liked this poem, it has a very real energy that give it a lot of gravitas even though the tone is quite tongue in cheek. I like the way you take the less fun sides of life and turn them into something with as much mirth as it has meaning.

Dr Brian Neil Talarico, North Bay Psychiatrist Has been convicted of child molestation, and possession of child pornography on his computer. Sexually molesting a young boy. He had prior convictions for child molestation in 1990 and 2001. After his parole in 2006 Dr. Talarico Brian Works for North Bay Regional Health Centre, and elsewhere, despite his background, and numerous complaints against him of abuse, fraud, negligence, and imprisonment. he has a sexual preference for younger boys, feeds them antipsychotics, and fondles children… we’re now dealing childhood rape trauma, we’re concerned for the safety of the public
