Hello

Hi! This is my first time doing a poetry half marathon and I am looking forward to it very, very much. I am getting ready for a marathon (running:)) and my long run ( into Toronto with Connors Runners) is on Sunday so, I will only be doing the half marathon…that again is from 7 am-7 pm. I am looking forward to writing alongsid others in this type of virtual competition. It will be tough but I am using my photographs as motivation…I hope that is okay? Is it? Can we use our own “prompts? Or, are there any more specific rules re: first poem/ hour Haiku 🙂

Thanks you for this opportunity!!!! So, each hour, do we simply make posts this way? I notice on the side bar, there are 4 categories…and not one of them is for the half marathon. I actually did want to do the full marathon BUT, I can’t stay up all night because I have to run on Sunday 🙁

  1. Hi! I grew up in Toronto and that city will always have a huge hold on my heart. I think it is great that you will be poetry marathon-ing and actual marathon-ing in the same weekend. That is pretty impressive. We have long joked that it would be fun to have a poetry marathon – marathon, where you wrote a poem, ran a mile.

We added a half marathon category, and this is exactly how posting will work during the marathon. We post a prompt on the site every hour but there is no need to follow them. I don’t usually and I post them. Hopefully you will post some of the photographs.

    1. Hi All…One last question about comments…how do you begin a thread? My “posts are work” but I don’t see the option “how to being a new conversation?” Do my posts appear here as comments of is there another menu option? Thanks!!!!

  2. Thanks Caitlin. I think what I might do is to select 15 of my pics, create a collage and post that 🙂 I am working on re-vamping and adding information to my sire (it is very much under construction). But, you/ others can read more about me and see more of my pictures on this site 🙂

  3. Ingrid!!
I have JUST finished reading ALL your poems [going down the list] and I am truly admiring what you have done. There seem to be a bygone era in your words topped with a modern understanding … it really is so inspiring and reminded me to look at the world without blinkers on.
How To Laugh – REALLY tickled me and as I read it, I very much followed instructions … ended up laughing happily! IT WORKS!!
Thank you so much for sharing your work!

    1. Thanks Adri 🙂 In my spare time, I am a laughter yoga leader. So, when I saw the prompt/ suggestion about writing a poem about smiling…well, that got me thinking about laughing-lol:) Thank you for your comments.

My poetry used to be a lot darker…especially in my 20’s when I was having op after op to treat my hydrocephalus. At that point…dark was everywhere and sometimes came into my poetry…if not darkness…angst and frustration with the world. Now, all the memories are there but so are the years of healing and utter gratitude and appreciation of the healing force of ourselves and our laughter 🙂
