Poem 4-Hour Four- Voices of the Climbing Fir Trees by Ingrid Exner

Voices of the Might Fir Trees

ring from a high-

“Climb! Despite all, you must climb!”

“As the rock moves-so do we. Climb!”

“We climb because we must!”

Our life is balance and a climb to the top and, climb

we must.

Anchors of soil hold us between

Earth and Sky as we

Rise to greater heights-

Thriving in the distance!

Dressed in haloed and hallowed crowns

of fog

wrapped in mystery

We stand like great beings

Towering in triumph.

  1. “Anchors of soil hold us between Earth and Sky as we Rise to greater heights-Thriving in the distance!” Superb lines and throughout I could see the trees in conversation. Fantastic!

    1. Thank you Siobhan! At first, I wasn’t too sure where I was going with this but as with many poems that day and night, it sort of took on a life of its own..The prompts-especially this photograph- were very inspiring!

    1. Thank you for liking this poem. I am in awe of trees esp cedars and pines that can flourish under any condition. They are great beings of beauty and comfort to me.
