Hop, Skip and Jump  Prompt 3

Light and lively, it’s a hop, skip and jump

into the day, bomp, bomp, bomp.

In this new world you must smile, smile, smile

and not cry, cry, cry at what you don’t want to come

to pass. Grizzled old men have made decisions and

changed your life for you. You have no say.

Lilt and lift you must be happy

through your tears. Bomp, bomp, bomp

how many of us will now tumble down the stairs?

  1. I liked the musicality of this poem and the beginning slant rhyme of lines 1 and 2. Great use of onomatopoeia…bomp, bomp bomp! Maybe having a rhyming onomatopoeia at end…How many of us will stumble down the strairs…bonk, bonk, bonk… (slant rhyme again like beginning?

  2. Beautiful poem!!! I don’t read many poems with onomatopoeia (so far in the marathon/half marathon.) Maybe submit this? I would just add another slant rhyme at the end…see above comment. 🙂
