Hello Fellow Poets,
I am watching the Democratic National Convention speeches at this moment and cannot think of another activity that reflects my interests. I am a political writer and believe that “the personal is political.” My writing blurs the personal/political spectrum and dives deeper into how people connect to one another through loss. I am an out Lesbian Feminist and admire poet Adrienne Rich.
Logistically– I am a 27 year old lesbian graduate student whose childhood was rooted in poverty. My experiences influence my writing and I find much comfort when I write poems.
I am looking forward to this marathon, love challenging myself, and cannot wait to succeed in writing 24 poems in 24 hours.
I hope that everyone is approaching this marathon with the same optimism. Looking forward to pushing through to the end with you all!

Can’t Wait
This will be my second marathon. Last year’s marathon experience was phenomenal. By hour 24, I was a zombie poet, but I did it. After reviewing some of my poems from last year, I realized I really like them (at the time, not so much). The marathon re-invigorated me and my writing passion. I’ve been painting a lot this year, so I’m prepping for this year’s marathon by looking at my art and the stories behind each piece. Onward!

I am a slightly crazy nineteen year old girl from a very loving family in Kerala, India. I am a girl who loves to dream.
Dreams may come real …sometimes they may not ..but despite that fact I still keep dreaming.
Reading is next in nature to me. It calms me down , gives me pleasure and takes me away from reality .
Yes I like to run away from what is happening around me because at times I feel that I don’t belong here.
Books are the doors to MY world . And of course I’m a fiction maniac .
I like to write but I’m an extremely lazy girl so it takes quite some force to make me write .
The whole credit for me deciding to write here goes to my friend who is also doing the marathon.
She very often tried to push me into writing without much success . We are of the same wavelength but slightly different frequency .
At least I can say that I do this for her and yes I’m sure its gonna be a wonderful experience .
Marathon Updates Part 2
Everything is progressing nicely towards the 4th Annual Poetry Marathon! Introductions are now going up on the blog. The Facebook group is active.
If you signed up for Marathon and have not yet heard from us, you should have, so please email us at poets@thepoetrymarathon.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible
Due to some (now resolved) health reasons we are pushing back our second round of sign ups to the week before the marathon. We will be open again to applications from the 8th of August through the 9th! We hope if you were not able to sign up before, you will be able to sign up during this second round.
Hello, My Name Is
Hello, I’m Eve. I am a 5th grade teacher from Massachusetts. I love words…reading them, writing them, teaching about them.
This is my second marathon. Last year’s was a lot of fun for me. I had not written a lot of poetry in years, but set that challenge for myself and achieved it. This year, the weekend of the marathon has a lot going on, but I have once again set that goal for myself, hoping to achieve. I am at that point in my life where setting goals for myself and trying to accomplish them is important to me.
I look forward to spending an all-nighter with people from all over the world again this year. One of the highlights of last year was the 2-4 a.m. window of time when everyone was really struggling and we had the ability to communicate through the Facebook group, being silly, and feeling connected through the bond of words (and no sleep!).
The key to the marathon is to have fun! I know I will be!

Looking forward to this new experience
Thank you for accepting my request to participate in the Poetry Marathon. I am looking forward to the same. I have published 2 books of poetry, Inspire and Reflect.
I have limited experience in using WordPress.
I feel the biggest challenge I will face will be to stay awake and to complete this marathon, despite the other responsibilities I have on any given day. The best part is that the Marathon is on a Saturday.
I think writing 24 poems in 24 hrs, with a poem every hr. will be a different experience. I am not sure if I will get so many ideas in my mind. Fingers crossed on how this will shape up.

Just wanted to introduce myself to you all. I am a fifty-odd year-old Creative Writing major and this is my first attempt at a poetry marathon. I hope that all of you get some inspiration from this challenge. May the words flow, and in the right order!

Hello fellow marathoners! I’m just a girl who is obsessed with words and is a huge believer in the power that they hold. I have a weakness for reading aloud and tasting the words on my tongue. I love to sing, do yoga, and be spontaneous. Poetry is my passion.
I don’t think that poetry should have a clear meaning or explanation. I think you should work to find your own interpretation of all art but that if the art touches something inside of you, then it means something. I’m a little bit literal minded sometimes, but I’m also very poetic, and so here I am, going to work on the purely poetic side of things. I’m excited for this unique challenge and ready to see how much my writing and I grow from it.

And here it is, my third Poetry Marathon. What is it about the number three that lures us in? In literature, in fairy tales, in mythology, in science, and in religion; the number three, shows up again and again, and again. It holds us tight, fast, steady. Signaling adventure, mystery, and unforgettable experiences. And so it shall be in my third Poetry Marathon. As I embark on my third year in California, I realized the Poetry Marathon has become a welcome journey for creative expression, wayward writing, and a little bit of magic. I am now going to go enjoy my third cup of coffee. Welcome all! ♥
