Prompt 1 Water

Water

A jet of cold hits my tempered skin

my nakedness shudders

I catch my breath

as a part of me sleeps entwined in cotton sheets

as a part of me walks through my past

And I think how did I reach here so fast

as a part of me runs towards the future

having skipped over the moment

my nakedness shudders

and I will myself back

back to the awakening

And I hold on to the blessings that flow

breathing softer and slower

as what no longer serves me

flows away

off beautiful bronze skin

  1. This poem seems light in its delivery but some of the lines carry such weight! There’s a central triplet that drew me in to re-read again and again! “And I think how did I reach here so fast / as a part of me runs towards the future / having skipped over the moment” Thank you for sharing.
