“The white of the paper
Will be incorporated…
For the green and yellow patterns.”
Says Jane Strother
In her book about
Drawing with colored pencils
Making me wonder
Which parts of my
Ever evolving flesh
Will be incorporated
In the patterns
About to be etched
Onto my forearm
Forever
By this talented person
Who only just now met me
And is doing this job
For money
The triad of artist, you, and the author really works well. I like how it is woven together.
Though I don’t have any tattoos, I have always loved the poetry of lasting art inked onto a person’s skin. You’ve portrayed the wonder of growing with that art and constantly adding to it as you grow, all at the mercy of someone who barely knows you as a person. Beautiful to read!
This is wonderful and lingering.
