The Night Before Madness (11:00 AM)

Whispering poetry to myself in the bath

I ponder my day and choke on a laugh

at all of the silly little things that you said;

how God is alive,

and that sky is red

and nightmares so troublesome fall from my head.

With momma up to mischief

and daddy on the couch

I tiptoe to my room

quiet as a mouse.

Moonlight dances on the ruddy wood floors.

There’s holes in the rooftop and locks on the doors.

I turn off my light and

draw the shade down the window.

Turn down the blankets and

fluff up my pillow.

I pray to the Lord my tired soul to keep

and wish that tonight I’ll fall easily asleep.

I drink myself to a tumultuous nap

to awake in a place where the sun rises black.

A Kiss Is Like A Cuckoo Clock (10:00 AM)

A kiss is like a cuckoo clock

counting down the hours.

A sound to resonate and remind

the living and the liars.

Of all their promises to keep

and places you should be.

Lies that you should never tell

despite your fears decree.

Then chimes the loyal cuckoo clock

the hour, then the half.

Alerting you of time that’s lost,

an hour you can’t take back.

Quiet now is the cuckoo clock,

it’s lost all sense of time.

The gears were wound too tightly

with promises and lies.

Hush now broken cuckoo clock

and to your house reside.

To leave behind the silence

of a kiss that’s lost to time.

Lunar Movements (9:00 AM)

Dark as coal my nightmares lie at the

feet of my submissive dreams.

I rise like a fog from beneath my covers

at night when the world has gone asunder.

Nocturnal Jasmine greets the dark and

sweet gentle stars are in agreeance.

Calamity crashes my mind like thunder.

(I love the spell you put me under.)

Love sick Jupiter clouds my head and

lusty Venus longs for affection.

Temperamental Cupid pairs ill suited lovers

at night when the world has gone asunder.

The lunatic moon spies on my secrets

and a blush spreads across her surface.

I absorb this scene with idle wonder.

(I love the spell you put me under.)

Love is a thrill I chase like a breeze

blowing just inches beyond my reach

at night when the world has gone asunder.

(I love the spell you put me under.)
