Hour 5- Carved heart

A love was spawned from the roots of the earth

A friendship, passion and lust had given birth.

Your love carved into me like a name on a tree

You cut into my flesh and set my soul free.

As beautiful moments are planted, the buds start to bloom

Flowers blossom with a powerful perfume.

When troubled times erupt and the leaves start to wither

Darkness appears with an oscillating slither.

But true love prevails through the dark

your heart remains on my trunk with a mark.

Mom in Heaven

Dearest ma

I miss you with all of my heart

In 2013 cancer tore us apart

You were given to me to teach me the way

To love, to care, to be kind and to pray.

You were tiny in build and feisty in grit

My proudest supporter and biggest crit

You sang me lullabies and held my hand

When you left, my heart sank in the sand

I am now comforted by the the encouraging thought

You are flying with the angels and the peace that you sought

Watching over all of us, our guardian above

Shining your halo of health, care and love.

Me, myself and I

Hi fellow poets

I am Lee, the author of Lee’s poetry corner page on Facebook and have named myself “lepetitpoetry” as I am tiny in stature, a lover of the romance of French language.

I am a grounded young mom, teacher and writer. I have a pure heart, a hippie soul and a free spirit. I immerse myself into my poetry to create my own Utopia and am loving being a part of this incredible experience. This is my first marathon. I am in South Africa so wondering how I will get through the night part now but I am certain that your talent will encourage me to mow on.

Would love to connect with you all.

Good luck and happy writing x Lee

Hour 3-The covidcoaster “Bop”

December a time for Christmas and love

brought to the amusement park a new ride

The fiercest of them all, and nowhere to hide.

Then January emerged a new year and more frightening effects

all walks of life rode it while it presented defects.

No restriction on age or height

It is gonna bite, try and steer clear, or fight the fight.

We boarded the coaster and each of us had a different view

We held on tight, white knuckles emerged with sweat and fear

bracing ourselves for a whirlwind year.

February now and things got rough

only two months in and we already had enough.

March brought the steep climb we were locked down on top

April still no idea when this bubble would pop

Was there a fix and how would it spite?

It is gonna bite, try and steer clear, or fight the fight.

Finally May but things haven’t changed

Only a collapsed economy and disease that seems to soar

Why the lockdown if it can come through the door?

June and the curve is not flat

July in a few days and all from a bat.

I’m holding onto my positive sight

It is gonna bite, try and steer clear, or fight the fight.

Hour 1- An ode to Mother Theresa

A magnificent soul with hardship to endure

A mother of spirituality and woman so pure.

When I think about all the good she ensured

Everyone else’s vision was obscured.

World war years we learnt in our books

Evil and corruption, brutality and crooks

She stayed humble and caring,

Inward happiness and peace

Trying to get rid of fear and sickness to cease.

With the storm around her, her soul remained calm

The world continue to hurt and harm.

The day she died, a dove was set free

With the heavenly angels she could love and just “be”

Empowering many with all that you shared

To hand down the heart of someone who cared.
