Wonders

Wonders

The Earth hangs upon nothing

So does the moon —

At least, upon nothing that eyes can behold

The Sun remains likewise

On its allotted locus

The stars, greater and less than our Sun

Keep their posts, for all practical purpose

Jupiter, Mars, and planets numerous as the ocean tide

In obedience to the hand that sets their bounds they stay

O mighty Hand

Keep me in Your grip

For, if you can keep the celestials in their place

You sure can keep this terrestrial

Safe and secure.

Laughter

Laughter

O, yes, ‘tis good to laugh

‘tis fortunate to be able to laugh

‘tis gift divine

Can’t be bought

can’t be sold

shouldn’t be taken for granted

this beautiful gift –laughter

And so, I laugh

What is Man!

What is Man!

What is man!

Here today, and a tale tomorrow

Man, a speck in the sands of time

An almost insignificant waveform in eternity

Man –if we have any virtue

It is by the grace of God

And, by that grace, man must go forth

And do that of which he is enabled

In this fleeting moment called

The days of our lives

Of Peace and of Rest

Of Peace and of Rest

Peace, the desire of ages

Rest, the quest for it is unending

Does one who has peace have rest?

Or, is it rest that gives peace?

Peace I pray for

Rest I seek

For me and my household

For all generations to come of me

For, as curses reach far

To generations yet unborn

So do prayers reach far

To generations unborn

And, my prayer is

Peace that knows no end

Newcomer

Morning  (from this side) all:

I’ve run some marathons with my legs, and some (albeit non-poetic) with my pen but this will be my first poetry-driven marathon.

Any pointers?

See you all on the hot seat.
