14. Tomatoes and such!

Evening time was the best
Tomatoes were ripe and ready
For plucking
Steam them and squash them
Put them into Jars
Don’t let the Children know
That inside each jar is also
A bit of kindness, a dash of smile
A handful of love and tomatoes and such

13. What If Everyone was Blue?

There was a little town filled with clowns
All were blue and all were kind
Everyone was good at making everyone laugh
No kids cried ‘coz all the adults tried
Making funny faces when someone cried
They lived in houses of one kind
Two rooms in a flat laid lengthwise
On the road running for miles and miles
Maybe we should also try going blue once in a while
The Blue people never cry
The Blue people never lie

12. She (99 words)

She arrived scared but not timid
If enduring this turmoil is her calling
Then, she will carry on like an ant struggling to stay afloat on a leaf
The city was noisy, dirty, and the air was smelly
People yelled everywhere, children constantly screamed
The cars, the bikes, trucks and four wheel drives
Blared their horns at everything that crossed their paths
The shops were many with low quality overpriced goods
She sometimes wished she could wish herself home
But here she is and this is how it will be
At least for now until she finishes her study

10. Colours of the Rainbow

Red – blood fresh out of a cut finger
Orange – juice oozing out of a fruit
Yellow – rays from the sun glaring down
Green – stains from freshly cut grass
Blue – as above so it is below
Indigo – the special child from the mother’s womb
Violet – all is not lost when we have you
Together the colours of the rainbow make me blue

9. Spidey

Spidey my Spidey
You will never know how much I miss you
Spidey my Spidey
Why did you have to go?
Leaving me here wondering
Whether you’re alive or eaten or squashed
Spidey my Spidey
I love you so

8. “I Look Into My Glass”

The future was unclear for you and I
Sometime bright sometimes dull each time we look
Together may be a good idea to go into
The Jungle the wilderness forever hand in hand in my
Old Satria Neo
For this and the future let’s raise our glass

(Last words taken from “I Look Into My Glass” by Thomas Hardy)

7. Inside out

She turned her life inside out
How you might ask
She went in to her cobweb filled brain
She swept thoroughly and left it clean
A new slate one might say
She bought the most expensive portion
To stick the broken bits of her heart together
This took time but it had to be done
Last but not least for she still had miles to go and hills and valleys to climb and descend
She bought herself a new dress and walked to the park
And watched the fountain dance to the wind
And the birds sing to each other
She turned her life inside out

6. Feeling something

Work was hard
Everyday seemed harder than the day before
She didn’t mind
It kept her thoughts from thinking about the things she ran away from

Her fingers were bruised from hitting the typewriter
But she liked the constant gnawing pain
It reminded her to breathe, to feel, to feel
Like watering a plant after it is dead, her life seemed pointless

But she couldn’t give up
That was too easy and what would her grandma say
“There’s work to be done – stop dreaming, child”
Except she was no longer a child
And in her head she no longer dreamed
She just screams silently for help for help
She knows will never come

5. Holidays

The train rides were always fun
Going uphill, downhill, and through tunnels
Grandma was awesome at minding us all
With the youngest in hand and seven in tow
The fresh air always hit us as soon as the train would leave
It was only a short walk to the estate home
Where rubber trees grew and goats lined the yard
Holidays were special ‘coz this place was special
Learning to wash in the river and taking the goats to graze
It was full of childhood laughter amidst some silly antics
How I long for those carefree days roaming the estates
