Poem 14/24 – Senses

Poem 14 – Senses

Taste
Comfort –
Filling my senses

Warm
Cold –
In all flavours

Hard
Soft –
And all different textures

From smell to sight
To taste sensations –
That is what I like

Poem 13/24 – The Road Less Traveled

Poem 13 – The Road Less Traveled

A came to a fork in my road
And not knowing which one to take,
I looked down the one –
To see as far as I could in deed
And then down the one with the tumble weed

I choose the less traveled of the two
As I wanted to explore the unfamiliar
I knew I could turn back,
If back was where I wanted to be –
However the less traveled path
Was what I was meant to take

Years from that day I remember
The path I had taken in that December,
What would have happen to me –
If I had not taken that choice to heart
Heaven knows where I would be.

Poem 12/24 – Acknowledging Shifts

Poem 12 – Acknowledging Shifts

I feel the change
The shift in side

Is this the way forward?
I fear to think my time
Has been for naught.

This feeling,
This pain,
This anger –
Can no longer hide.

Change is inevitable
The motion has begun…

Poem 11/24 – Friendship

Poem 11 – Friendship

His big brown eyes
Stare into my soul
He knows –
He can feel my pain

He props his front legs up on the couch
and rests his head down on my leg
Just as a tear runs down my cheek
I can see the concern in his eyes.

I wipe my face and feel his weight
Next to me.
He places a paw on my leg,
Sympathy in his stare.
I pat his head in thank you,
acknowledging his gesture of comfort.

Poem 10/24 – Autobiography of a Face

Poem 10 –Autobiography of a Face
There once was a girl
With golden blonde hair
So innocent,
So young
Her eyes would forever stare
Amused at the world,
Yet wise beyond compare
She knew no pain,
No sorrow
No fear
She lived in a world
Where kindness was as dear.
Naive was she
Until she grew into me…
Her youth faded,
Her innocence loss.

She continues to stare
Bewildered by this world
As she tries to relate
To her new reality –
Soulfully seeking herself in between…

Poem 9/24 – Quick Quick Slow

Poem 9 – Quick Quick Slow
Quick
Quick
Slow…
We must a go
Into the night
Oh it will be such a fright…
Quick
Quick
Slow
Now the time has come –
We must go…

Poem 8/24 – More of Me

Poem 8 – More of Me
There was a time,
I knew what I wanted out of Life,
What made me happy and
How to be happy.
Unfortunately my life got caught up in;
‘We need more toilet paper
We need to finish this
We need more time
We need to clean up
We need more light
We need to go here, go there…’
I had to stop and ask myself –
‘We need’ more me…
To be myself
To enjoy that which keeps me sane
To enjoy my life on my terms…
‘We need’ will be considered after
‘I need’ has given and answer…

Poem 7/24 – War Approaches

Poem 7 – War Approaches
The staff shone bright white
Hooves beat the ground
Casting dust to the wind.
Wicked screeching,
Steel rings out loud,
Cries of pain,
Iron fills the senses
Cold covers the land in a blanket of sorrow…

Poem 6/24 – My Little Critter

Poem 6 – My Little Critter
I found a life,
So small and round
He came to me
Without a sound.
His eyes so big,
His body so small
My hand could hold him all.
This little critter came to me
From far away one night you see
And now we spend our days in glee…

Poem 5/24 – The Other Side

Poem 5 – The Other Side
She doesn’t know who she is,
She doesn’t know what she can do,
She doesn’t know what she means too the world.
Her light sparkles brighter than the biggest star.
When she is down, it affects me deeply.
She is to good for this world, for this time, this reality.
I feel her love, her pain, her eternal essence…
If only she knew – the other side sees her inner worth… and for that – she is my sanity…
