Somewhere I’ve Never Been… 1/2 marathon poem #11

Somewhere I’ve Never Been…
1/2 marathon poem #11

I’ve never been to the Moon
But I’d like to
I’ve never left the Earth
But I would do
If I could

I’ve never seen an Earthrise
But I’d like to
Gaze upon the green and blue
But I would
If I could

I’ve never walked where Neil did
But I’d like to
And I like it more
If you came too.

After Moonshadow 1/2 marathon poem #10

After Moonshadow
1/2 marathon poem #10

You lost your mind one night
Playing in shadows of moonlight
You lost your way back home
Singing of your woes in blue tones
Don’t be lost now in the dark
So come inside, no need to hark
Don’t be lost here anymore
So come inside and close the door.

The Firefly And The Moth 1/2 marathon poem #9

The Firefly And The Moth
1/2 marathon poem #9

In the strange heat of an English summer
Where the firefly hides within a bottle
Safely glowing behind a glass bulb’s wall
In these trying times he’s out of trouble
In the strange heat of an English summer
Where the lazy moth flys with no mask
The firefly safe from his lethargy
And the lazy moth dies with a rasp.

What Do Emojis Mean? 1/2 marathon poem #8

What Do Emojis Mean?
1/2 marathon poem #8

What do emojis mean
I guess that’s up to you
What are emojis for
I don’t have a clue
What do emojis mean
They’re all a bit silly
They don’t belong here
This is poetry.

Season Of The Stupid 1/2 marathon poem #7

Season Of The Stupid
1/2 marathon poem #7

Did they fall from the skies
Or grow from the ground
Seeded in ignorance
Is where they are found
Did they fall from the trees
And dig in their roots
Nourished in bullshit
With bitter fruits

Harvested by bigots
To vote for bullshit
X’s for Tory lies
And poison Brexit
X’s for Donald Trump
And racial hatred
Pickings are rich
In the season of the stupid

They don’t seek shelter
From Corona’s ill winds
They all head to the beach
To be Close to friends
Ignoring Two metres
Everywhere a rubbish tip
No need for masks
In the season of the stupid.

Umbrellas 1/2 marathon poem #5

Umbrellas
1/2 marathon poem #5

Raindrops fall upon dancing umbrellas
On an English summer’s windswept day
Children jumping embracing their mothers
In an English weather’s cabaret.

Hello (Do you still…) 1/2 marathon poem #4

Hello (Do you still…)
1/2 marathon poem #4

Hello,
It’s been a while
Do you still lie behind your smile
Do you still think I think of you
Paranoid in your narrow view.

Well
It’s been some days
Do you still scheme behind your gaze
Do you still think I give a dam
Your friendship just a nasty sham.

Yes
It’s been some weeks
Do you still wear tears on your cheeks
Do they still reflect all your shame
A mirror to your silly games.

So
It’s been some years
Do you still magnify your fears
Do you still want all you can take
Wrapped up in your playful fake.

Hello,
What else to say
I am the one that got away
I am the lover
Who escaped your lie
So now forever
I say goodbye.

What On Earth Is A Bop? 1/2 marathon poem #3

What On Earth Is A Bop
1/2 marathon poem #3

What on earth is a bop
I don’t know what to write
I wish these prompts would stop
I think I’m writing shite
What on earth is a bop
I don’t know what to write

Now every hour seems like it’s own marathon

What on earth is a bop
I struggle through stanzas
I try a quick Google
Looking for the answers
What on earth is a bop
Why am I doing this
I’m not enjoying it
So why do I persist

Now every hour seems like it’s own marathon

So this has been a bop
And now it’s nearly over
I wish these prompts would stop
I’ve struggled so far
So this has been a bop
Now at last it’s over!

This Third hour has been it’s own marathon.
