poignant, ageless, poem with a a beautiful last stanza. Thank you!
This is great! Please also post it (and all other poems) as a new post, in order for them to be easier to find again, so you can make them private if you need to, etc.
What a powerful piece on aging and I love the final stanza!
Hour 2. Write a poem from the point of view of yourself, ten years ago.
Ten years ago
I was 65.
Healthy.
Energetic.
Ageless.
I thought that age would never catch up with me.
And then it did.
I have found Facebook and internet postings
that refer to the physical body
as a “flesh sack.”
A temporary home
that houses our soul
and then wears out.
Yep.
The flesh sack and I
are formally parting ways.
Step by step.
Loss by loss.
But I am no longer afraid
as I switch my focus
to the soul.
