HOUR ELEVEN – Dawn’s Kiss
The first rays of dawn
tip-toe
across the dew-dropped grass
and leap
into my window,
flit across the polished floor,
slink over silken sheets,
and kiss
my face.
I relish such mornings,
like fresh bread and honey,
soft to chew and sweet on the tongue.
Light delights me as it plays through the day,
changing the mood of each place it touches.
Beautiful! Love your powerful word choices and images.
Nice, easy show of light and how it dives in and changes us. Great outlook poem!
Thank you so much for your feedback.
This inspired me to interpret. “Slink over silk sheets” is cool. Relish… bread and honey… mmm
Thanks for the feedback
You hit this poem running, Wendie, with that fabulous first image of the dawn light tip-toeing ‘across the dew-dropped grass’. Love it.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful poem Wendie! I love your chosen imagery and personification ion of the Sun…I particularly love the line, ” Love delights me as it plays throughout the day, changing the mood of each place it touches.” Maybe even the mood of the person too?
Thanks Ingrid… yes, I think the mood of the person too. I know that light certainly effects my mood
