Sip.
Exchange casual glances.
Everyone here is a writer,
all with laptops taking chances.
Not quite like a library,
all well-read, but with dreams.
Small victories are hard to come by,
spelling my name right is a good start.
I wish I was smart,
everyone here is a writer.
Sip.
I should probably get started.
Exchange casual glances,
writer’s block setting in,
I have to get started.
It’s a struggle,
this writer’s life.
Coffee helps.
“Here is your coffee and change, sir”
Sip.
I loved reading this poem. “Sip” flows well and has some great imagery! A few lines jumped out at me and I had visions of each of us hunched over our lap tops. I love the humour…”Small victories are hard to come by…spelling my name is a good start…” I like the repeated phrase, “Everyone here is a writer…I think you repeat it twice…could you repeat it a third somewhere…3-4 stanzas with this repetition? Since you repeated “everyone hear is a writer…I thought you would complete this thought image with acknowledgement of you as a writer…just a thought… Poem is great either way…
Hi Ingrid, thanks for reading 🙂
The repeating line was ‘sip’ but you’re right, I probably should have added one more line. Cheers!
