The Poetry Marathon

The trees, they called to me
To whisper secrets deep
And so I took to answer
While world lay fast asleep

They spoke of world rotation
And all they witnessed change
And as those things were different
They soon came round again

They spoke of ebb and flow
How moon controls the tide
Sucking back the oceans
Then freeing for the ride

Winters come and go
Spring while life is new
The drenching rains of summer
To feed falls gorgeous hue

A deep, but gentle slumber
Life resting in it’s meat
When in hibernation
Together the heart beats

I thanked them for their purpose
I sang to flower friend
Danced with silhouette
Before my journey end

Moon keep watch on us tonight
May our words take endless fight
Eyes stay open
Mind stay sharp
Illuminate our page with spark

Coolness of hot breath
Summoning the winds
You ask I write you colour
Now, where to begin

The sweetness that you fed me
Lingers on my lips
I quaff a heavy drink
When I drink in your kiss

Storm dragon dances
Summoning the night
The winds of change are coming
Carrying it’s flight

Silent, gentle hand
Tremors on warm flesh
Persuasive innocence
Cleanses like the blessed

Spill my dreams upon the floor
Tape them to your wall
Remember what I said
Oh how you’re going to fall

Lie to yourself
Grow your disease
Convenience of stolen memory
Is what helps you sleep

Denial brings you closer
To shattered belief
When it comes closing in,
I will drink, that which you weep

Innocent eyes are witness to truth
You can’t tarnish memory
Of stolen, lost youth

Essence you cannot bottle
Inspiration you can’t control
Yet it comes pouring out
In ways you never know

Word like bloodwork spill
And page absorbs it all
Marking what will be
Remember what heart saw

His flesh more hot
Then fever touch
The sickness swam
Deeper touch

Exorcised sound within
Resonate on wall too thin
Carried out, that deep desire
Pleading, set my soul in fire

If all we have
Is here and now
Don’t unlock me
Give my bow

Maybe I injected you
Too far beneath the skin
I can feel your longing
And taste what should have been

Serenity can’t find me
When I still feel your touch
And still, your face beside
Still driving this heartclutch

Each time I reach the surface
Your name grabs, drags me down
Claiming every movement
Muting every sound

Machine, it holds it’s graces
Feeding what you fear
Collecting what you dreamt
Producing every tear

Soul on shattered paper
Will never meet complete
For I had come to meet you
Yet you left in defeat

The word of disappointment
In self, fell from your tongue
I was left, stand broken
When only just begun

Stars you painted blindly
Lead me to your side
And still I wandered onward
And left without reply

Note left hanging on
With unrelenting strain
Pulsing from inside
Grows weak without sustain

Sentenced me to skinpeel
As I still feel your touch
The grasp still hard around me
And bruised by intent blush

The longing that you saw
Pouring from my eye
Could have been kissed away
But never said goodbye

As silence fell upon my lip
Word desires to spill and drip
And so I spoke where souls now sleep
Knowing all my secrets keep

Overwhelmed by living thought
This blessing curse leading lost
Every doorway speaking no
Hallway long, as more unfold

Seeing all, yet blind within
Drowning now, this seasick spin
Pulled each side to great divide
And I remain unspoken bride

Time sits back, in lounge effect
Mirror bent, distorts reflect
My option now, to fall stare death
Every second claiming breath

Tear skips down on unknown path
Cannot choose the right, or left
Fathom forward, song unsung
Standing now, chosen one

I did not ask
For update now
In midst writing
Stupid cow
An hour’s past and here I sit
I requested days to better fit
But you have now
Hijacked my form
A poem behind
I am forlorn

Every night
I begged for you
Cried it to stars
Pleading to redemption
A balm to soothe these scars

Each time I had called for you
I spoken without your name
Seeing form, and unmatched voice
But truth, you never came

So blindly I wandered
Forced in the dark
Searching onward evermore
Please recognize my spark

Days turn into nights
In Silence take Last Stand
Nevermore Delirium
Lead Stray Theories hand

The sky has dropped my tears
Felt pain of my storms
Now, please give me sunshine
And blessings take strong form
