Once upon a time, specifically, in the 1930s, on the upper west side of Manhattan, there was a candy store.
It was your basic soda fountain/candy store of the day – egg creams, malts, ice cream sodas, newspapers, chic-o-stick, chunky, milky way, and an assortment of other confections of the day.
A young couple owned the store – she a hard-working, petite, nervous woman always on the move; he a quiet, man of easy temperament.
Already their family include one little boy, and girl was on the way.
Bugsy bought his paper at this particular candy store. Every day, like clockwork.
