24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
My Nigerian name Idorenyin, pronounced “eee-dough-ren-yin” is an ibibio name that means hope and I tend to be hopeful and optimistic. Poetry is the way I express myself. The poetry I write, is influenced by my life, your life…the human experience. When I am not writing poetry, I am probably creating jewelry. I love to sing and dance and conduct on the choir. I love meeting new people because I believe it adds riches to our lives, especially when we meet those that are different from the ones in our comfort zones in appearance, experience, culture, etc. It allows us to be more connected and in some way diffuse racism, prejudice, stereotypes, etc. We create the story of our lives by the people we meet and by the things we do. I am glad to have been introduced to this event by the generous Purple Poet. It’s a big world of poets and poetry out there. I never would have thought I’d meet so many poets and have the opportunity to write and also read the poetry of fellow marathoners. It gives my reading experience a more personal touch.
Good morning,
Where on this site does the prompt appear?
Hi my name is Idorenyin which is an ibibio (Nigerian) name that means hope.
My tummy is in knots just reading about the Marathon. First time jitters perhaps. I chose the half marathon because it’s my first one and I wanted to get my feet wet.
So who I’m I?
A writer, poet, communicator, jewelry designer, a bit of a neat freak, somewhat adventurous. I’ve lived in several countries and find humans to be quite interesting and sometimes entertaining😊.
I hope to be able to start and complete the Marathon. Please share what helps.
I wish all participants the best of luck.
