Rollercoaster Ride (hour 15, prompt 15)

Staring out the window
At the storm that raged outside
Something told me, then & there
We were in for a fucking ride
35,000 feet in the air
We were flying home
From our honeymoon in Vegas
Straight through a fucking storm

*FLASH!!!*
*BOOOOM!!!*

We were in a freefall
Dropping through the air
Everyone was screaming
Lights flickered everywhere
One woman, loudly praying
All I could do was cry
30,000 feet, now
We were gonna die.

But the pilot had us
Like an angel, he could fly
When we landed safely, later
He said, “thanks for the rollercoaster ride.”

Mother Earth (hour 14, prompt 14)

Mother Earth is watching
Every move you ever make
Every thought you ever have
And each dream you forsake
She knows the things you’ve sacrificed
She knows each time you’ve shattered
Each time you’ve been made to feel
Like you never really mattered
Mother Earth, She knows you
Unlike anybody else
And any time you’re feeling lost
She’ll help you find yourself.

Hope In Hopeless Times (hour 13, prompt 13)

Walking with the sunrise
Has become a normal thing
Since we’ve been locked inside our houses
It’s when my soul can sing
There’s just something about the dawn
That breathes hope into my soul
When the sun’s rays pierce the darkness
Merging night with day; a whole
Stop to smell the roses
Glistening with dew
There’s still beauty in this world
But you have to see it, too
Walking with the sunrise
When everything is still
Gives me hope in hopeless times
And I think survive, we will.

Dreaming Reality (hour 12, prompt 12)

We were wrapped in innocence
In someone else’s dream
Somewhen (in another time)
But nothing’s ever as it seems
The reality is the nightmare
And innocence, the past
So long ago I can’t recall
When loss first came to pass
For even as a child
Those dreams, they couldn’t sell
See, we were raised on fairytales
That began, “Once Upon Awww, Hell.”

First sentence in “Loved” by P.C. and Kristin Cast: the dream started innocently enough.
Last sentence: awww, hell.

Imagine Nation (hour 9, prompt 9)

Skies of glitter majesty
Lakes of crystal light
The wind is music on my skin
And everywhere’s a sight
There’s magick in the very air
A world lit up in rainbow hues
And in a field of fairy dust
The unicorns are dancing, too
It’s a page straight from my dreams
It’s magick determination
If only I could capture it
My Sovereign Imagine Nation.

Miss You (hour 8, prompt 8)

Heat shimmered at the treeline
Like a veil of magic light
Crickets chirped throughout the field
As day faded into night
The fireflies came out to play
As stars scattered ‘cross the sky
I sat down with my memories
And looked up with a sigh

I miss you, I whispered to the stars
You’ve been gone so very long
It seems a lifetime’s passed since then
And, damn, everything is wrong
What I’d give to talk to you
To feel your booming voice
To hear you say “right fucking on”
As if there were a choice
To know everything was right, again
That nothing left was wrong
What I’d give to have my brother back
For you to not be gone

Tears flooded down my face
Till I couldn’t see the moon
As I walked away, I whispered
“Tell the rest I miss them, too.”

Rest in Paradise. 🖤

Contradictions (hour 7, prompt 7)

She’s made of strength and moonlight
A midnight rose of thorns
You might think she’s got a halo
But it’s held up by some horns
Wildflowers and willows
Clovers blowing in the wind
A soul that’s made for loving
With a body made for sin
She knows that she’s too much for most
And alone she’ll always be
She might be strength personified
And made of mystery
But it will never be enough
For anyone to stay
So while she’s made of moonlight
Look closer; it’s all pain.

Season of Survivor (hour 7, prompt 7)

Her blood drenched the walls
As her screams filled the air
His hands ’round her throat
She should’ve died, there

*Beeeeep…*

Her mother stood there sobbing
Doctors rushing to and fro
Machines were loudly chiming
When her angels said, “let’s go”

*Beeeeeeeeeeep…*

She firmly told them “no”
She hadn’t written her final cipher
And it was time to tell the world
It’s the Season of Survivor.

*Beep, beep, beep, beep*

Perfection (hour 6, prompt 6)

The warmth of the sun
Behind rainbow shades
A gentle breeze blowing
My hair in my face
The scent of the water
Pure home on the air
Why, if I just close my eyes,
I’d be right there
In a chair on the beach
Soft sand in my toes
With the great lakes before me
An ideal day back home.
