Winter.

Winter’s on my tongue now
Shivers chilling down my spine
My hands grow cold, my eyes dry
This is the kind of cold no warmth would suffice.
Winter’s on my tongue
I haven’t tasted nothing more bitter
The sun hides behind
curtained clouds
And the cold
creeps onto my bones.
Winter’s here
and it’s on my tongue.

Learn.

The chilly winds dance around my side
As I’m looking out the window
Looking at the pitch black sky
I was wondering why
I couldn’t reach
The half moon smiling at me
Or the stars
Shining brightly even in the darkest night
My heart pondered why
I couldn’t shine like the sun
Or even smile like the clouds
But I didn’t realise
The nature was only teaching me
All this time.

Stay.

When lights lit the city,
Everyone busy,
I found myself cradled with loneliness
Keen to find someone to speak
Then a wanderlust star peeped,
Seated high in the pitch black sky
It smiled at me
Unknowingly i began talking to it
The star embraced me through the night
Telling me stories of its own
And listening to mine without frowns
Promise me you’ll always be my side
I said
The next morning i found him out of sight

A letter to you, sky.

Dear sky,
Will words ever be enough to tell you
How grateful I am to you
for your vast blanket of clouds
That kept me warm
when my little heart was freezing.
How do I tell thank you,
for the starlings,
Who heard all my stories
or to your moonchild
Who watched me weep.
Dear sky,
I thank you for the sunshine in my life
and for the smiles you lent me.
This all all I can say If I ever have to Repay.

Who knew babies did wonders?

That girl.

See that girl,
The one with the smile?
Do you know she’s been hurting for a while?
She was the butterfly who had her wings pricked
She is the rose that burned
She cried herself to sleepless nights
Just wishing it would stop
She watched her heart in pieces
Watched them chisel away from her
She watched her hands bleed
From all the cuts and tear
She just wanted a warm embrace
And someone to wipe her tear.
You see that girl,
Who keeps everyone smiling?
She’s the girl who lost her smile.
Now she’s standing beside the window,
Playing memories of
How a mere five year old
Lost her happiness.
Now she stands here,
Trying to voice the voiceless
Trying to speak for people called weak
Those who are ridiculed everyday
The ones who have nothing to say.

A day to reminisce.

someday when we’re old
and the winters sway in
the wrinkles adorning our faces
would wrinkle more
thinking about this day
and plenty of them fragments
would flood in simultaneously
then, we’d realise
memories aren’t only beautiful
but equally cold.

Bravery.

There’s so much cowardice
in saying “I wish to die.”
When the pain
gets overwhelming.
But have you ever thought
Is there one among us
brave enough to say
“I wish to live.”

Would you?

If I told you
about the void
in my heart;
would you still
look at me
like I mean
everything to you.
