Upside Down 12
On Thursday I had a strange dream
The trees and gardens were in the sky
All houses and streets were upside down.
The rivers were flowing on the earth so high
The oceans were glittering and glowing
With high waves and foamy waters flowing.
I sat in bed and looked outside
If this was really true but what would happen
If the sky was below our feet and we were
Hung in the sky? The law of gravity
Should apply and then sun will kiss our feet
We will be all hung upside down and never
The twain shall meet! I am going potty now
It is time to catch up my sleep!!
Super Blue Moon No.11
A super Blue Moon
I had never heard of a
Super Blue Moon
That comes round in August
August has two full moons
Their colours are not blue
But slightly grey and red
The second one is in Pisces.
Most Pisceans are happy
They are told they are lucky.
The downside is
That the next blue moon
Will come in 2037.
I will not be here to see it
I wish others joy and luck
A glass of wine and a piece of cake
For Blue Moon’s Sake!
Bay of Bengal
No 10
Go to the Bay of Bengal
There is so much charm
To have a holiday in the tropics
For one thing the sea is always warm
To swim, to paddle and dip your toes in.
Once I went to the Bay of Bengal
In a quaint ancient place
Called Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu
In had so many ancient rock carvings
And Temples – so much to see
There used to be seven ancient temples
The sea swallowed six and one is left
Full of carvings, Mahavishnu having
A rest at the feet of his beloved has slept
For many centuries.
The food is excellent in small cafes.
With a synthesis of music playing.
We should all go to Mahabalipuram
Once to see what we are missing.

Climate Change Poem No. 9
Poem No. 8
I loved my mother with all my heart
When my father died, she lived with me.
She was happy, sang songs and said her prayers
But she did not like the cold winters.
My sister came and promised her
Eternal sunshine in India
But she was never happy with her
She had a stroke and I could not move her
Back with me though I wanted to.
One day in the month of November
I had a shock and woke up with a start
A lorry had run into my front wall
And caused an almighty crash
When I looked for him he drove away
So fast and it was two o’clock
Then I heard my phone ring
It was only four o clock
My sister said, “Your mother died.
She died peacefully in her sleep
And it was two o’ clock.

The Man from Kabul said to me
Poem No.7
The man from Kabul spoke to me
When,he drove my taxi home
He said he believed the Quran
And I should cover my head.
I live in a free country and can do what I wish
The man from Kabul spoke to me
It is haram he said, you see
Our Prophet said so in the Holy Book.
You can’t defy his orders.
Women must stay indoors
The man from Kabul spoke to me
No jobs for you outdoors to do.
Don’t send your daughter to school
But teach her at home as Allah
Then be happy with you
The man from Kabul spoke to me.

A Wedding Man
She is a teacher yet unmarried
She wants to stay unmarried
And enjoy her life.
It is a multicultural school in Bradford
Lots of Indian girls are her pupils
They love weddings and all that entailed
Beautiful food, beautiful clothes
The full bridal wear, the jewellery
The marriage ceremony they like it
The bride and groom going around ]
The fire seven times –
The groom wearing beautiful clothes
His face covered with rows of pearls
His turban full of gold.
“How come you don’t want
to get married Miss
A Wedding Man is Bliss
You must get married, Miss
You Must get Married Miss.
The teacher can’t add anything to this
It feels like an order!
Abel has come
Abel has come to visit me
And I take him in the garden
We go to the pond
Abel counts the tadpoles
We have reached eighty two
And there are plenty more.
We give up.
Autumn has touched the trees
with its little finger
The cherry tree is already turning flame red and yellow.
I tell Abel to go and play
Go in and make myself coffee
Abel has found a stick he is sitting astride
And shouting Giddy up, Henry, Giddy up
Henry is not so obedient
Abel gives up and wants his lunch
I make him peanut butter sandwiches
Bring him some apple juice to drink.
His mother comes to collect him
The garden is so quiet now
And I too miss him till next time.
