I Do, I Don’t

Tied by the hands, two to one

The golden shine that sits between

Hiding the truth or lies to the next morning sun

A life of grey or green

Will the flowers stay in bloom?

Will we glow under the moon?

Will the flowers fall and wilt?

Will the moon turn away in a tilt?

I vow to stay by your side as you stand by mine

I vow to leave your side if you no longer stand fine

I vow to love you unconditionally

I vow to hate you unbelievably

Hold my heart in your hands

I’ll hold yours as this chapter commands

If one breaks, the other shall too

And with that, seal this faith with “I do.”

Alive

I’m alive

My body feels weightless and clear

My heart is soaring, I feel at peace here

I’m happy, content

I’m grateful for the hand lent

I’ve never felt like this before

I dare never again to ask for more

For why ask additions to my thrive

When I’m not alive

10 Years Past

I take the path

I remember it well

Eight of young, still at school with English and Math

But even at a young age, she could tell

I like playing with dolls of Barbie

I like to dance and sing

I like to have a little party

I like to skate and swing

I want to say I’m happy, but I know that they didn’t make me feel so

But! I can’t wait to turn ten!

It’s a big number I know

Maybe I’ll have some friends then

I like to play with dolls

I like to dance and sing

I wonder if ten years later, it’s the same thing.

A Path To Take

It’s dark and quiet when I walk by the trees so tall

Spruce under a night sky, no sound at all

The moon my only in sight

Up above, shining down this dark path so bright

But I slow as I see

A little sanctuary before me

No

Not a house, not a home

I worry as I stand alone

But the path is clear and split into two

One turning back and one to a chapter new

Is this it? This is the end?

The moon is brighter, a hand for lend

I don’t worry as I stand alone

It’s dark and quiet as I walk to a story set in stone

The Poetry Marathon 2023

Hello!

This is my first time joining this marathon! I’m incredibly excited to see what’s in store!

I’ve been writing poems since I was 14, almost 3 poems daily, haha! I’m 18 now and wish to see my old friend again (my paper and ink). I want to feel at home through the words I write down!

I can’t wait to see the journey that waits ahead! And good luck to everyone who’s joining this marathon as well!
