(#2/12): “Red Ire”

I’ve been wondering.

What you have been doing.

Where you have been.

And who have you been seeing?

So when did we start to unravel?

How could you just walk away?

And why did you?

I am so perplexed

Greatly vexed.

Damn you.

I really wish I could put a hex on you.

Foggy Expectations

The moon reflected off the lake,

My girlfriend and my first time alone together under the night sky,

No politics, just peaceful,

We parked next to a live oak and sat in her jeep,

The Southern air– humid,

Light fog rolled in shielding us,

A canopy of comfort sheltering us,

I rested my head on her breastbone,

Bum, bum, bum,

Her heartbeat was glorious,

Deep breaths to pace my own heartbeat,

I could lay here forever,

thump, thump, thump,

Her heartbeat picked up speed,

My hand slid to her face and relaxed on her cheek,

“No worries, no one has to know,” I said,

I kissed her lips,

A look away,

Was it panic?

Spare me a look,

Fear crossed my mind,

She turned back to me.

(#1/12): “The End”

Rosewood.

A baby is born.

We see the Statue of Liberty, buried in the sand.

John Wayne takes his last breath against the setting sun.

Jump cut to Freddy’s talons – he is alive!

Zoom out on city bathed in the first light of a new day.

Title credits roll.

An award-winning song plays.

Blooper reel?

Post-credit scene sets up sequel.

“The End”.

Drowsiness

I was wide awake under the canopy of trees last year

I did not tell you of the condition

Because I was so tired of the long journey

Finally we stopped for awhile

Fighting my drowsiness, I witness a moon shining admirably through the sky

I remembered I said, “I’m making a wish now!”

“Spare me from those wishes.”

O’ you shocked me by the lake.

But its nothing to compare the sheer panic you cause us for the sake of your hunger.

Forgiveness

Most would say you don’t deserve to be forgiven
That I should just forget you like you were just a ghost of a heart broken past
A mistake that shouldn’t have had the chance to last as long as it did
But they didn’t have their mind on Jesus
See who am I to decide who deserves forgiveness, when I don’t deserve forgiveness my self
But yet Christ gave His life so that my screw ups wouldn’t be the deciding factor to the end of my story
So here I am to say I forgive you for all the things you will probably never admit
I’ll stand with open arms to accept the apologies that I may never get
And I want to say thank you for teaching me that I’ll be forever unhappy if I live with regrets

Seven P.M.

The world is breathing. Its lovely life

whips waning light through peach cloud crowns,

lifts swifts to paddled flight

in blunt bodies built for gloaming.

If you cover your ears–hard–

and clench your arms–

you can hear your blood rejoicing.

Just so, cicadas–the tuneful roar

of circulating summer.

Angst (Prompt 7)

Angst

What do you want to do?

“I dunno.”

Are you hungry?

“Sigh…I guess.”

You guess? Yes or no?

“Whatever.”

Well…I’m going to cook.

“It doesn’t matter.”

Sigh…Teenagers.

The Stoic Pelican

Pelican-pic

Upon the placid, darkened lake

and beneath the huge, bright moon

there sat a stoic Pelican

whose chicks would die too soon.

They clamored in a panic

for there was no food to spare.

The Pelican’s wings were broken

so the nest was bare.

Looking with pity at her brood

she knew what must be done.

Striking her breast, out poured blood

upon each and every one.

The chicks gobbled hungrily

at this sacred food.

And the Pelican, in her glory,

smiled upon her brood.

That’s the ancient legend

which saints of old did tell

to describe how God

indeed feeds us just as well.

He comes down from highest Heav’n

to altars on the earth

from which He pours forth Himself

to nourish and give new birth.

For, our hungry souls are fed

like chicks in a nest

And our Stoic Pelican

provides Food Most Blessed.

United by the Skies

As I lie under the canopy of the silver moon

I gaze at its reflection across an ebony lake

Knowing that you too see the same reflection across the ocean

I am in awe of the glory that love creates

When you are so far away but emotions spare no distance

And you feel right by my side.

Fervent

If you ever loved me
I pray we end as friends
And if rought with disease
Please come so swift to end

Blessings continue growing
Some devine flora and some as weeds
What lies in their best interest
Is what need be concede

You have served your purpose
To bring forth their life
Time for you to burn out
As not to quench their light
